Healthy Doctors Better Medicine Conference, Adelaide, 3-5 Sep 2009

The 'Healthy Doctors Better Medicine' Conference took place in Adelaide during Thursday 3rd September to Saturday 5th September 2009.  The keynote speakers were:

Professor Erica Frank, who has a major interest in doctors health research and is the founder of the Healthy Doc = Healthy Patient Project.

Professor Geoff Riley, Professor of Rural & Remote Medicine at the University of Western Australia. He worked in rural general practice in the 1980s before training as a psychiatrist.  He is highly regarded as a teacher and has a special interest in care of doctors and their families.

The sub themes of the conference were:

  • Personal approaches to staying well
  • The Healthy workplace - corporate models
  • Adjusting to the stages in a medical career
  • Issues for the medical employee
  • Managing Doctor-patients
  • The health of medical students/young doctors
